Nowadays, Yixing is the biggest wire and cable production base in China, there are 250 wire and cable manufacturing enterprises in this city, and its cable and wire sells well in 15 countries and regions.In 2007, Yixing City was awarded as "Wire and cable export base in Jiangsu Province."

Through the quick development in last ten years, there are lots of large-scale wire and cable enterprises in Yixing, there were 51 wire and cable enterprises that the taxable sales exceeded 100 millions, and the sales achieved 35 billions in 2007, among them, Jiangsu Far East Holding Group Co., Ltd, Wuxi Jiangnan Cable Co., Ltd and Jiangsu Hengxin Technology Co., Ltd play very important role in the development of cable and wire industry. Relying on the lead of Far East and Jiangnan, from raw material supply, production and logistics to disposal and use of waste, many related industry joined into the production chain, like copper processing, cable supporting materials, cable manufacturing equipment. Besides, the related industry can help attract foreign investment.

Yixing has a plan for setting up national wire and cable export base through 1 to 2 years' efforts, in order to achieve the goal as sales of 100 billion yuan and to build International Wire and Cable city. Furthermore, Yixing focuses on developing detailed development plan of wire and cable industry, conducting seasonable guidance, breaking regional boundaries, forming ordered division of work, coordinating functional distribution, and developing distinctive wire and cable industrial model.
